Paa-Ko Communities Sewer Association - May Update

PCSA Update for May 2024 from the Committee:

April was a very sad month for the PaaKo Communities Sewer Association as we lost a key member of the Board. Bob Schoner tragically passed away while on his yearly vacation in Puerto Vallarta. Bob was a key member of the Board as he was a retired CFO and a key contributor to the BOD. We will miss him a great deal.

On the business side we have made good progress with both the refinancing of our existing loans and the new Grant and loan from NMED. The RFP proposals using the Grant monies are due on May 1. We expect to place the PO for Engineering Services by June 1. The NMED Loan for the replacement of the system’s 20 year old computer and software update has been accepted. The new system and software will be installed during the week of May 13th.

Jim Elsworth, the PCSA Secretary and BOD member submitted his resignation this month due to extreme workload in his consulting business. We will miss Jim. On the good news side Scott Verhines has joined the BOD. Scott has a great background working in similar technologies for numerous states. Welcome aboard Scott!

This leaves us one Board member short of the required 5 members, so we need one more homeowner to step up and help the community. Please contact me, Mike Boice,  at 505-407-8191 if you are interested!

Assessing Home Hazards on your Property

FROM EAST MOUNTAIN WILDFIRE PREPAREDNESS ASSOCIATION:

Need help assessing and addressing home hazards on your property?  If so, help us help you.

1) Review the Home Hazard Assessment Guide and Worksheet from the Forest Stewards Guild to learn how to recognize and assess potential hazards that may exist around your home.

2) Then take a short survey using this link:  https://survey.alchemer.com/s3/7662407/EMWPA-Survey-2024

Your responses will help EMWPA gain a more accurate picture of hazardous fuels conditions around homes in the East Mountains so that we can work with Team Rubicon volunteers to provide the assistance you need.

We also have a few programs coming up over the next several weeks during which we'll discuss Firewise communities, defensible space, and strategies for homeowners to be pro-active in getting work done.
