Update From PCSA Regarding Elementary School and Paa-Ko Wastewater Plant
From Michael Boise, President of Paa-Ko Communities Sewer Association:
I would like to provide an update to members involving the PCSA BOD’s dialog with APS (Albuquerque Public Schools), regarding the possibility of connecting San Antonito Elementary School to our wastewater treatment Plant.
The school currently has its own system which does not meet minimum requirements by NMED (New Mexico Environmental Dept), nor does it meet Bernalillo County minimum requirements for its operation. It has been non-compliant for the last twenty years and is the only school within APS which is not in good standing.
Initially the BOD was concerned about the volume that might be added to our system; however, the school has supplied certified data for the past five years indicating that (if included within our system); it would be only the equivalent of about five additional homes.
Discussions are continuing as we believe this could assist PCSA by providing both a significant connection fee as well as additional annual fees which would assist with our ongoing infrastructure repairs and replacement costs and required maintenance of the overall system.
We will keep members informed as to any future progress with this potential project.
