Red Flag Warning

FROM EMWPA

The National Weather Service (NWS) announced at 7:21 this morning that Monday's weather will reach red flag conditions. There is a strong chance that Tuesday will also have red flag danger levels.

Remember, today (Sunday) and tomorrow have been predicted as severe weather days, and Tuesday may be as well. This is the first multi-day event of the 2024 wildfire season. Be aware, be prepared!

The critical information for Monday is the following: red flag conditions will exist on Monday from 10 am until 10 pm; winds will be from the west at 25 - 35 mph, with gusting to 55 mph; relative humidity will drop to between 7 - 20 %; and the temperatures will be well above average for this day in May. It goes without saying that they recommend no outdoor burning. And as we always say, the hours before and after the official red flag times can be dangerous as well, so tell your neighbors that Sunday is another watch out day! Here is the link to the official forecast:

Pool Opening - Amenities Members Only

Spring is here and the pool will be open for Amenities Members for the season beginning Saturday, May 4th . Please be aware, however, that it will be closed for a half day on Friday, May 17th due to tree trimming activities and will reopen after the Noon hour.

We wish for all swimmers to enjoy the pool safely and to familiarize themselves with the Paa-Ko Amenities Rules which apply to the pool and all recreational facilities. A copy of those rules is included below for your convenience.

New this season will be the ability to order by phone for poolside food delivery from the Paa-Ko Ridge Golf Club. A limited menu and hours of operation will be posted and we will all be responsible for “bussing our own dishes”. The food will be delivered to the pool in more environmentally-sensitive containers which will need to be disposed of in the wicker trash receptacles to be located around the pool. Food service may not be available during the first few days of the season, but will be soon afterwards.

Please remember that safety, as well as enjoyment, are very important to all of us. There is no lifeguard on duty at any time and the volunteer pool attendants who work there from time-to-time are present to monitor the pool and the pool water for everyone’s benefit. Please be respectful of their contribution.

Paa-Ko Communities Sewer Association - May Update

PCSA Update for May 2024 from the Committee:

April was a very sad month for the PaaKo Communities Sewer Association as we lost a key member of the Board. Bob Schoner tragically passed away while on his yearly vacation in Puerto Vallarta. Bob was a key member of the Board as he was a retired CFO and a key contributor to the BOD. We will miss him a great deal.

On the business side we have made good progress with both the refinancing of our existing loans and the new Grant and loan from NMED. The RFP proposals using the Grant monies are due on May 1. We expect to place the PO for Engineering Services by June 1. The NMED Loan for the replacement of the system’s 20 year old computer and software update has been accepted. The new system and software will be installed during the week of May 13th.

Jim Elsworth, the PCSA Secretary and BOD member submitted his resignation this month due to extreme workload in his consulting business. We will miss Jim. On the good news side Scott Verhines has joined the BOD. Scott has a great background working in similar technologies for numerous states. Welcome aboard Scott!

This leaves us one Board member short of the required 5 members, so we need one more homeowner to step up and help the community. Please contact me, Mike Boice,  at 505-407-8191 if you are interested!
